Changes at Bowman Riley Architects
There is an air of change at bowman Riley Architects; Paul Hodgson, MD, retires in April after 23 years with company. Paul sees this as “retirement with a small ‘r’. I will continue to work with the Practice on a consultancy basis, while being able to spend more time on my motorbike exploring the Yorkshire Dales!” he says.
Bowman Riley Architects is being left in the more than capable hands of the four remaining directors Laurence Teeney, John Coultas, Darren Bush and Matthew Jones, who are relishing the prospect of a new challenge.
Darren Bush says “The Practice had a strong year in 2009 – we won the Insider Architectural Practice of the Year award, made it into the Building Magazine Top 50 Employers Guide and won the Green Office Development of the Year at the Estates Gazette award for Toronto Square in Leeds! My fellow directors and I want to continue to grow and strengthen the business, and even in this economic climate we feel that there is still scope to do so.”
Internally the future of the Practice is bright with the promotion of Michael Feather to Associate Director specialising in commercial and scientific research projects, and of chartered surveyor Debbie Lewis to the position of Associate. “Michael and Debbie possess the right kind of qualities to take Bowman Riley forward; their passion, enthusiasm and professional experience means good things to our outlook.” John Coultas said.
Part of the Bowman Riley Architects strategy for the future is to develop new sector areas. In something of an architectural coup, Tim Smith of Rance Booth and Smith and The Healthcare Design Partnership has been recruited to front the Practice’s new Healthcare division. Tim is an Architect with over 20 years of healthcare and police experience to bring to the team, and will be a familiar face to many in the industry.
