First BREEAM 'Excellent' rated supermarket in the country
Bowman Riley Architects' new Morrisons store in Kidderminster, which opened its doors in September, is the greenest supermarket in the country, having become the first to be awarded a prestigious environmental rating. The store received a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating under the 2006 retail scheme - the highest BREEAM Retail Assessment scoring for a supermarket to date, and one which provides the company with a 'greenprint' for stores of the future. The redevelopment of the historic former carpet factory includes a new 7,153m²(gross) supermarket, the refurbishment and extension of a Grade II Listed office building with a change of use to museum space, and associated 390 car parking spaces and environmental and infrastructure improvements.
